AuDacity Community Charter

Full Group Rules, Confidentiality & Safeguarding guidance

AuDacity sessions are designed to be welcoming, thoughtful and psychologically safe spaces for learning, reflection and connection. A few shared expectations help us look after ourselves and each other.

1. This is a shame-free zone

  • No judgement, no “shoulds”, and no unsolicited fixing.
  • You don’t need to perform wellness, be inspiring, or share your life story to belong here.
  • Different experiences, needs and perspectives are welcome.

2. Sharing is always optional

  • Talk loads, talk a little, or just listen.
  • You can always say, “I’m not ready to share that.”
  • You can step out, take a break or leave at any time. No explanation required.
  • Please only share what feels safe for you.

3. Respect the room and each other

  • One person speaks at a time, as far as our neurodivergent brains allow.
  • Try not to interrupt (we are neurodivergent, not feral... although the line can be thin).
  • Different experiences can exist side by side. We don’t debate someone else’s identity, diagnosis or lived experience.
  • Disagreement is fine. Disrespect isn’t.

4. Ask before offering advice

Sometimes people want ideas. Sometimes they just want to be heard.

  • Ask first: “Would you like suggestions, or just to be heard?”
  • If advice hasn’t been invited, don’t offer it.
  • Support doesn’t need to come with a PowerPoint.

5. What’s said here, stays here

Please respect the privacy of everyone in the room.

  • Don’t repeat another person’s personal story or identifying information outside the group.
  • You’re welcome to talk about something you learned or reflected on, but keep other people’s contributions general and anonymous.

Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in a group setting, so please bear this in mind when deciding what you feel comfortable sharing.

6. Look after yourself

You’re responsible for your own participation and wellbeing during the session.

  • Move, stim, doodle, change seats, get a drink or step outside whenever you need to.
  • You never need permission to take care of your needs.
  • Emotions are welcome, but please avoid graphic or highly detailed descriptions that could overwhelm others.
  • If a conversation becomes particularly intense, I may pause, redirect or move it on to help protect the wider group.

7. This is coaching, education and peer community, not therapy

AuDacity sessions are spaces for learning, reflection, connection and shared peer support.

They are not therapy, healthcare, crisis support, or a substitute for individual professional advice, assessment, diagnosis or treatment.

Information and experiences shared during sessions are for educational and informational purposes. What is useful or appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another.

Please seek appropriate professional guidance before making changes to medication, treatment or other significant aspects of your health or care.

Everyone participates as part of the AuDacity community. No attendee or facilitator is acting as your healthcare provider or assuming clinical responsibility for you during the session.

8. Safeguarding and serious risk

AuDacity is a community space rather than a crisis service.

If I become seriously concerned that you or someone else may be at immediate risk of harm, I may encourage you to access appropriate help. In exceptional circumstances, I may need to take further action where there is a serious and immediate safeguarding concern.

If you need urgent help:

  • 999 if there is an immediate danger to life
  • NHS 111 for urgent health advice
  • Samaritans: 116 123, available 24 hours a day

The basic principle

Look after yourself. Respect other people. Protect what they share. Ask rather than assume.

That’s pretty much the deal.
